Cocktail Recipe: Cuban Mojito

Yes, the world-famous mojito’s recipe is here. You wanna feel like James Bond on Cuba? Prepare one! Mojito’s and a big cigar….thats a perfect match!

It’s a very refreshing drink for hot summer days, If you are going to a pool with some friends prepare a pitch, and you better be ready to speak some Spanish chico.

  • 10 fresh mint leaves (In Cuba peppermint is used, so I recommend the peppermint)
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 1/2 fluid ounces white rum
  • 1/2 cup club soda

Grab a glass, throw in the mint leaves or peppermint and macerate them to release the mint oil (be careful with the glass please and leave the mint leaves).

Add the sugar and ice.

Add the white rum. (I recommend Bacardí or Havana Club, those are the one used in Cuba)

Add the soda water.

Please don’t add lemon!!! The lemon is seldom used in Cuba…

And that’s it, let’s dance!

  1. Aren’t you forgetting the Limes?? I also like my mojito’s with Demerara sugar! I think it gives a much more rounded drink and a little extra crunch! Check out my take on a Mojito, adding strawberries for an extra dimension!

  2. Like I said in the post….Please don’t add lemon!!! The lemon is very rarely used in Cuba…very. …is at the end of the post. Adding strawberry will make it a Strawberry Mojito, the one posted here is the most common mojito in Cuba
